Community Climate Readiness Expo – Homewood
Join us for a Community Climate Readiness Expo – an event to inspire local action! This event will take place on February 17th from 6-8pm at the Community Empowerment Association, 7120 Kelly St, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.
This event brings together neighbors, community organizations, and local agencies to demonstrate practical emergency preparedness strategies. We’ll learn about the ways climate change and pollution disproportionately impact vulnerable neighborhoods. And we’ll have a series of hands-on activities for you to explore topics like best practices for filtering your drinking water, being prepared for weather emergencies, and monitoring your air quality.
This expo will kick off a new leadership program we are launching alongside Neighborhood Allies called Roots to Rivers. The program explores how the built environment—stormwater systems, streets, vacant lots, public infrastructure, and housing—shapes environmental burdens and opportunities.
Participants will walk away with practical skills for climate emergencies like basement floods and air pollution events.
Light refreshments will be provided, and childcare can be made available upon request. There is street parking available at the CEA and it is located near the 74 and 71D bus routes.
We are hosting this event twice: once in Wilkinsburg and once in Homewood. No need to attend both!
