What’s Growing On at the Swissvale Hill Rain Garden?

The Swissvale Hill Rain Garden is growing, and we want your feedback.

The first phase of this project transformed three publicly owned vacant lots on the corner of E Swissvale Ave and Hill Ave into a garden that can capture an estimated 750,000 gallons of rain a year. It’s keeping water off the streets and diverting it from the sewer system, while also restoring native habitat for our pollinator friends.

We are now planning to expand the vacant lot on the other side of Taft Way, increasing the amount of rainwater the garden is able to capture.

Join us for a community feedback meeting to learn about the site and share your thoughts on the space. We are looking for feedback on elements of the garden, observations about how it functions, thoughts on volunteer engagement, and ideas for how to make it a more inviting community space.

This event will be outdoors. Parking is available on the nearby streets. The site is also by the bus stop for the 79, P17, and P78.
