Milkweed Madness!

Join UpstreamPgh on Wednesday February 26th from 5:30-7pm, in supporting our native pollinators at our annual Milkweed Madness event!

We’ll start with a short talk on the history of milkweed and its importance to Monarch butterflies. We’ll also discuss different types of milkweed and how to grow them from seed. Following the presentation we will handle some real milkweed pods and process them together. This involves separating the seeds from the milkweed silk (aka fluff). Lastly, we’ll pack the seeds into envelopes and label them. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

UpstreamPgh will plant the seeds along Nine Mile Run in Frick Park and throughout the watershed. Participants are welcome to take some home for their own backyards!

This event is free but donations are appreciated and help us hold events like this.

This event will take place on the ground floor of our office at 321 Pennwood Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. There is street parking available on Pennwood Ave. The office is near the MLK East Busway and the 61A bus route.

The event is finished.
