Fall Cookout at the Dornbush Rain Garden

Join UpstreamPgh and the East Hills Consensus Group at our third annual fall cookout at the Dornbush Rain Garden!

The Dornbush Rain Garden captures stormwater running down Dornbush Street in East Hills, the second steepest street in the city, and channels it into a rain garden with native plants and trees. This helps prevent flooding and reduce the volume of polluted stormwater that makes its way into Nine Mile Run. The site also has a beautiful sculpture by local artist Marlana Adele Vassar. Every year since the garden was completed in 2024, we’ve gathered at the site to celebrate climate justice with free food, music, and good company. This year, we’ll also have some fall-themed crafts and games.

Stop by anytime between 3-6pm. This event will take place outside, and children are welcome. Please RSVP so we can get a headcount, and let us know if you have any dietary restrictions on the form.

The garden is located at 8224 Bricelyn Street, Pittsburgh PA 15221. There is street parking available, and the site is near the Frankstown Ave + Dornbush St bus stop, which serves the 77.
