East Hills Rain Garden Block Party

UpstreamPgh and East Hills residents are celebrating the completion of the Dornbush Street Green Infrastructure Project with a community Block Party along Bricelyn Street on Saturday, November 2nd! The event will go from 1:00-4:00pm, with our guest speakers starting at 2pm. You’ll hear from Diane Daniels, Cofounder and Executive Director of the East Hills Consensus Group, Mike Hiller, Executive Director of UpstreamPgh, Pittsburgh City Councilman Khari Mosley, and local artist Marlana Adele Vassar.

This green infrastructure project transformed a few vacant lots into rain gardens that will capture 1.75 million gallons of stormwater annually, and will soon house a beautiful piece of custom art by local artist Marlana Adele Vassar (which party goers will get a chance to help out with!). We’re celebrating with food, music, games for the whole family, and a ceremonial opening of the rain garden.

What’s in store?

🍇Eat delicious refreshments by Bouji Bites,

🖌️Participate in the public art project by Marlana Adele Vassar,

🎶Dance to music from DJ KK, and

🌿Participate in a garden treasure hunt!

The event will take place at the Dornbush Green Infrastructure site, located at 8224 Bricelyn Street, and that block of Bricelyn. It is located near the Frankstown Ave & Dornbush St bus stop, which serves the 77. There will be an accessible porta potty at the site.

Come for the fun and stay to learn more about building climate justice in Pittsburgh! Please RSVP at the link below to help us plan for the event.
