Restore Fern Hollow Public Comment Walk

Attention Regent Square residents and Frick Park supporters! We are looking for public input on the Fern Hollow Creek Water Resources Plan! This plan will improve the overall health of Fern Hollow Creek, a small Frick Park stream that is struggling with the pressures of city living: aging sewage infrastructure, invasive species, and polluted runoff.

This is the plan we’ve been working on since the Fern Hollow bridge collapsed in 2022, and it includes the feedback we gathered from the public through our survey and community events, which you can read about here.

Through our outreach so far, we’ve heard about the need for bathrooms near Tranquil Trail and the desire to maintain the natural feel of Fern Hollow. The plan includes those elements, in addition to the more technical ways we can help the stream. Join us for a walk with experts from Ethos Collaborative and the US Army Corps of Engineers as we break it down!

The walk will begin in Regent Square, which is also where the work begins. We’ll discuss how separating out the storm drains from the combined sewer system in this area will help feed Fern Hollow creek. We’ll head into Frick Park to learn about additional interventions such as invasive species removal, gully stuffing, riparian restoration. The total walk will be about 1.25 miles. Much of it will be on sidewalks and flat, wide trails, but we will be taking the Biddle Trail staircase. During the walk, you can offer feedback and ask questions, which we’ll use to finalize the plan.

If you are interested but unable to join us for the walk, attend a virtual webinar on March 9th, at 11am.

We will start and finish at the Frick Park parking lot on the corner of Braddock Ave and Biddle Ave, near the Frick Park Clay Tennis Courts.

The event is finished.
