Water is something every person and every neighborhood depends on, but not everyone has the same access to clean, safe, and affordable water. Our Water Equity & Resilience work focuses on making sure all communities facing water quality challenges have a fair chance at healthy affordable water and a healthy environment. We advocate for the people and places most affected, because everyone deserves clean water, a healthy place to live, and a voice in shaping their community’s future.
Beginning in 2014, the Our Water Campaign (OWC) began advocating for clean, safe, affordable and publicly-controlled drinking water in the City of Pittsburgh. At the time, the extent of the lead crisis in PWSA’s system was just becoming clear; the threat of privatization was also looming.

The SRF Cohort is a six-month virtual learning and support initiative designed to build local capacity for Clean Water infrastructure planning, funding readiness, and community engagement. Through twice-monthly workshops, peer consulting, and access to technical experts, participants will gain practical skills to identify eligible projects such as wastewater upgrades, green infrastructure, or nonpoint source pollution control and strengthen SRF applications rooted in community priorities.
Every community in our watershed has its own needs, challenges, and traditions. By working closely with each municipality, we help create fair and effective solutions that protect our water and prepare our neighborhoods for a changing climate.
