Dealing with Flooding in your Home

Search and apply for various health and social service programs at www.compass.dhs.pa.gov or call 800-692-7462

Report urgent water or sewer issues (such as low or no water pressure, a suspected water main break, or a sewage backup) to Pittsburgh Water’s 24/7 Emergency Dispatch at 412-255-2423

Look up your home’s flood risk at www.firststreet.org. Consider a flood insurance policy, as most homeowners’ insurance doesn’t include flood damage.

Keep gutters clear and if possible, install them so they direct water away from your house. Consider having a certified plumber waterproof your basement or installing a sump pump.

Take photos of your home before any damage, and if issues occur. If your home floods, have a professional check for risks like loose wires and do not touch electrical equipment.
