Maintenance: University Square Apartments
We began by designing and installing a 900 sq. foot rain garden at this apartment complex in the heart of Oakland. The facility managed all sheet flow coming off the front lawn. To maximize infiltration through the clay soils at the site, we constructed several ‘stone chimneys’ reaching 5-6 feet underground. When the garden was completed, we worked with residents to train them for long term maintenance; they are also tracking rainfall with a rain gauge at the site.
