Through this project, we are engaging in data collection and interpretation with members of our watershed community of any technology skill level.
Participants receive a Smart Citizen Kit sensor and are expected to install, connect and interact with the data collected by the sensor on the social media platform Slack. Participants are also provided with a rain gauge and soil moisture meter to compare values measured by the sensor to values collected from manual readings.
Ideally, the community aspect of this project will foster relationships between neighbors and allow for members of the Social Sensing System to help each other repair sensors and identify potential anomalies in the data.
