Urban EcoStewards Workday: Rain Gardens
Join us for an Urban EcoSteward workday at UpstreamPgh’s rain garden site at our Swissvale Hill rain garden in Wilkinsburg (located at the corner of E Swissvale Ave and Hill Ave)! We’ll remove invasive plants, plant native plants, pick up trash, and conduct other gardening tasks. This work is crucial for maintaining the functions of a rain garden, which include preventing flooding, recharging groundwater, keeping pollution out of waterways, and restoring native habitat. Â
Each group session will include training for any new volunteers, so if you’ve never joined us on a clean-up or volunteer event before, these are perfect jumping-in points.  Plan to get a little messy and dress accordingly. Closed-toe shoes required, water-resistant or waterproof shoes recommended. Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided..Â
This is a volunteer event and attendance is free, however we ask that all participants register below.
Thank you for helping to maintain our rain gardens, making our neighborhood more climate resilient!
