Urban EcoStewards Workday: Rain Gardens
Join us for an Urban EcoSteward workday at UpstreamPgh’s rain garden site at our Swissvale Hill rain garden in Wilkinsburg (located at the corner of E Swissvale Ave and Hill Ave)! We’ll remove invasive plants, plant native plants, pick up trash, and conduct other gardening tasks. This work is crucial for maintaining the functions of a rain garden, which include preventing flooding, recharging groundwater, keeping pollution out of waterways, and restoring native habitat.
Each group session will include training for any new volunteers, so if you’ve never joined us on a clean-up or volunteer event before, these are perfect jumping-in points. Plan to get a little messy and dress accordingly. Closed-toe shoes required, water-resistant or waterproof shoes recommended. Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided..
This is a volunteer event and attendance is free, however we ask that all participants register below.
Thank you for helping to maintain our rain gardens, making our neighborhood more climate resilient!
