Milkweed Madness

Milkweed Madness

Join UpstreamPgh in supporting our native pollinators at our second annual Milkweed Madness event!

We’ll start with a short talk on the history of milkweed and its importance to Monarch butterflies. We’ll also discuss different types of milkweed and how to grow them from seed. Following the presentation we will handle some real milkweed pods and process them together. This involves separating the seeds from the milkweed silk (aka fluff).

UpstreamPgh will plant the seeds alongside Nine Mile Run in Frick Park and throughout the watershed. Participants are welcome to take some home for their own backyards!

Event is free, and light snacks will be provided. Registration is required.

The event is finished.
